After proposal approval, document materials, tools, safety, schedule, and how you will lead others.
Checklist
- List all materials, tools, and supplies with quantities.
- Create a work schedule with phases and volunteer roles.
- Identify safety hazards and how you will prevent injury.
- Confirm who obtains permits (the beneficiary, not you).
- Share the plan with your Eagle project coach and beneficiary.
- Get fundraising approval if needed before collecting outside donations.
Tips
- Build in weather and supply delay contingencies.
- Assign clear leadership roles to volunteers so you are leading, not just working.
- Take before photos before any work begins.
Common mistakes
- Assuming you can pull building permits as the scout.
- Under-estimating material costs or volunteer hours.
- Skipping a site visit with the beneficiary before work day.
